Directions
From Seattle, take I-5 south to Olympia, then Hwy. 8 west to Montesano. From there, take U.S. Hwy. 101 south to the Long Beach Peninsula. The park is approximately 3.5 miles south of Ilwalco.
From Portland, take I-5 north to Longview, then Hwy. 4 west to U.S. Hwy. 101. Then drive south to Long Beach Peninsula. The park is approximately 3.5 miles south of Ilwalco.
Notes
By combining the Coastal Trail and the Discovery Trail, you can cover about five miles.
Highlights include the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, chronicalling the 1804 journey of the two famed explorers; and Cape Disappointment Lighthouse, located at the turnaround point on the Discovery Trail, which marks the entrance to the Columbia River and overlooks the "graveyard of the Pacific," so named because of the massive number of shipwrecks that occurred in the area.
