Per USFS: Intensive logging operations along segments of the road on both private and WA DNR land will be conducted through the summer and fall of 2023. Access to the trailhead is closed to the public at this time.

Difficulty	Distance	Steps	Elevation Gain	USFS Trail #
Strenuous	6.0 Miles One-way	17,600 est.	3,700	809

Steps are estimated from the hike distance and a difficulty-based stride length.

Formula: distance in miles × 5,280 feet ÷ stride length

Stride length is adjusted because tougher trails usually shorten each step:

Difficulty	Stride length
Unknown	2.2 ft
Accessible	2.3 ft
Easy	2.6 ft
Moderate	2.1 ft
Difficult	2.0 ft
More Difficult	1.9 ft
Strenuous	1.8 ft

The result is rounded to the nearest whole step and shown as an estimate.

An Essential

Signal

Forests can be thick, but there are ways to get help if you’re lost. Keep a whistle and a metal mirror handy. Also, wear bright colors so rescuers can spot you easily.
