Per National Park Service: Beginning from the Trail of the Shadows, this is a steep loop [sic] trail traveling through forests with vistas from the ridge top. NWHikes: While NPS identifies this trail as a loop, it is more of an out-and-back unless you connect with the Wonderland Trail to take you back to Longmire - an additional 1.8 miles.
