Summary

Most of this hike, spent along the old campground roadway, relishing how nature overcomes what mankind has put in place. The camping spots are mostly still recognizable but the spots where vehicles once stood while families camped are being replaced with the green carpeting of various plants taking foothold. The campsite utilities are becoming harder to detect, and most campsites no longer have picnic tables; those that do, Mother Nature is using as new places for plants.

Weather Conditions

Sunny conditions with temps in the mid- to upper-60s.

Trail Conditions

Overall, pretty well. While did not spend most of the time on any of the actual trails, the sections of trails that I did hike were without mud.

Fauna

A couple of birds heard but not sighted. Some white butterfly/moth creatures were fluttering about in a number of locations.

Flora

Still spring time during this hike so was able to see some patches of blooming Forget-Me-Not, Elderberry, Western Trillium, Oregon Grape, and others. Of course, there are the Douglas-fir and Cedar trees that provide the forest canopy.

Scenic Views

Most of the scenic views in this location are of the forest surrounding you. There are a couple places where one could see peek-a-boo glimpses of Sauk Mountain.

Hiking Companions

None

Hiking Gear

Just my trusty camera.

Food and Water

Some snacks of banana, mandarin oranges, and some tasty treats from Ghana of a mixture of peanuts and corn nuts.
