Notes
When inside Cama State Park, follow the road past the Beach Park Office down to the Drop Off Shelter and head back toward the exit and parking. Parking near the Beach Park Office and Drop Off Shelter is time limited but there are a few parking lots that don't have the 15-minute time limit. There is a small patch of lawn between the road and the first parking lot where you can cross the road to start along the Bluff Trail.
Along the trail, there are peek-a-boo views of Saratoga Passage and Whidbey Island beyond. If you are looking for clear views across the Passage, this is not the trail for you.
While the name of the trail indicates it follows along a bluff, the foliage between the trail and the water does not give much of an impression you are on a bluff. There are, however, signs along the trail warning of falling giving the impression the edge is closer than it appears.
As you walk along, be mindful of the tree roots that criss-cross the path but also keep an eye out for the views. There are a couple of places to take a sit, check out the view, and read some information placards speaking to the fauna that can be found in the area. There are also spots along the trail where there are smaller placards with tidbits of info about life along the trail.
While walking along under the forest canopy, birds and squirrels make their presence known and in a couple spots one can hear the waves lashing the shore below. Due to proximity to West Camano Drive, the serenity of nature can be interrupted.
Overall, a nice short trail.
