Notes
This is a great hike for the family with lots to see: wildflowers, scenic views of Mt. Rainier and if you are lucky, marmots or goats. Begin at the Corral Pass parking area and walk through the campground. You will gradually climb through subalpine timber to the ridgetop where you will enter Norse Peak Wilderness. Reach Mt. Rainier View Camp (a dry camp) that offers beautiful views of Mt. Rainier at mile .6. From here follow the scramble trail that parallels the ridge to Engineer Meadows. Descend steeply and connect with Castle Mountain Trail 1188 at mile 2.2 and the meadows, which offer good campsites. From here a scramble trail follows the ridge and then descends very steeply to connect with Castle Mountain Trail #1188 at mile point 2.2 in Engineer Meadows, which offers good campsites.

Signal
Forests can be thick, but there are ways to get help if you’re lost. Keep a whistle and a metal mirror handy. Also, wear bright colors so rescuers can spot you easily.
