From Twisp drive west on Okanogan County Road 9114, which becomes Forest Service Road 44. Forest Service Road 44 runs into Forest Service Road 4440. The trailhead is on Forest Service Road 4440-395, about 3.5 miles past Mystery Campgroud.

This trail enters Lake Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness and climbs to Scatter Lake. First 500 feet is roadbed and Twisp River Trail. Switchbacks up through forest with occasional views. Crosses stream at 3 miles; subalpine forest and meadows continue up to the lake.
